A different philosophy demands different solutions
At STAGE SOUND we have always strived to do things correctly,
not just cost-effectively. You can see a good example of this,
if you look at our speaker towers in some of these photos.
We have spent years developing effective ways to isolate,
elevate and correctly array our speakers. We have learned
that the careful choice and correct placement of the main
speakers are probably the two most important factors in
high fidelity sound reinforcement. Top touring professionals
have known this for years and go to great lengths and expense
to correctly elevate and array their speakers. Although the
same laws of physics apply to smaller events as well, many
companies simply stack the sound gear up on the stage, point
it forward, and cover their ears. Even good gear can sound
terrible if the speakers are splayed incorrectly or are too
close to the stage. All of our systems have been carefully
engineered ahead of time and our technicians are committed
to getting it right on sight. Our larger systems use ATM
Flyware’s MEGS system, which allows us to vary the distance
between speakers, the down angle, and the splay. It is
sophisticated, versatile, and, of course, safe. For outdoor
shows, we have built custom speaker towers that allow us to
fly entire arrays within them, with no sacrifice in fidelity,
even in heavy weather. We have custom flying frames which
allow us to use several types of lifts to elevate smaller
speaker systems safely while assuring that the acoustic
performance of the system is not compromised. We have also
built proprietary hoists to allow us to elevate and stack
speakers in high scaffolding when necessary. When you hire
us, you can rest assured that we have done the math.
Safety
When it comes to conventional arena or theatre rigging,
we have several experienced riggers on staff with the know-how
to get the job done safely. We use horizontal lifelines on
all our lighting trusses and roof systems with retractable
vertical lifelines for ascent and descent. We were the first
production company in the region to embrace the use of OSHA
fall protection equipment and practices, and we remain a leader
in safety technology.
